You’ve seen them everywhere - Kiosks with blank screens, unplugged ethernet cables, frayed power cables, with confused customers and employees looking for automated ways to order food, sign in, clock in, check-in, and so forth. We can change that.

The frustration is a two-way (or more) road, from the business losing opportunities to reach their audience to clients looking for compelling messaging to inquire about a product or service. Effectively, as consumers, we’re exposed to technology that revolves around exactly that, consumer electronics. Though usable for an individual, smartphones and tablets may not perform as well in a commercial setting, like in a kiosk use case.
Because of that, those same people that or manage their organizations and businesses are familiarized with those devices. So whether it’s building something for their own use or developing a solution for end-users or customers, they’re going to look for products they see every day.
Everyone uses their devices differently, including how they treat their products. Some examples include careless handling, letting their toddler play with the device (I’m guilty of that), interacting with the device using wet, greasy, or oily hands. Adding that to the frequency of all these individuals accessing these kiosks is a formula for a higher likelihood of failure; from accessories, hardware, and connectivity. Not to discount performance as they’ll provide a great user experience, but trouble tickets for malfunctioning devices and maintenance will subtract from the expected ROI.
At AOPEN, the obstacles mentioned are prioritized with any new product in development, and it’s reflected in our less than <1% failure rate. If the right components and accessories are in place, essentially, the breakdown of the tablet used is where the cracks in the foundation may be brewing (think a well-detailed car that has a lousy motor).
Fortunately, our Kiosk-ready solutions like our new eTILE-X 10 provide an “out-of-box-ready” experience. Built-in VESA compatibility enables lesser components to break from a mounting perspective. Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) allows a single cable to provide internet and power to the kiosk (specifically for our eTILE-X 10), meaning cables and plugs are unlikely to be tampered with. AOPEN also enhances the physical security using a port cover as icing on the cake with our AIO (All-in-Ones). Our line of AOPEN eTILES and cTILES share a similar design language, with refinements as each iteration is released.
So as part of the AOPEN philosophy, design, functionality, and reliability in a solution are essential and cannot be discounted. Ultimately, this leads to overall savings from an ROI perspective for the organization and a pleasant customer/end-user experience.
