Readers were hungry for more than turkey this month, as they devoured stories on McDonald's and Disney World. The most popular story analyzed how the happiest place on earth uses digital signage to deliver a little extra magic for visitors by keeping guests informed and entertained and helping them plan their days.

5. 12 ways to improve your digital signage 'call to action'

Putting up media on digital signs isn’t enough. If you don't ask your audience to respond in some way, you'll never know if they've engaged with your message. That's why it’s essential to include calls to action on digital signs.

It can be challenging to discover how to make a proper call to action with any medium, whether static or digital. However, there a few keys to making it work.

First, you need to try to include a call to action, or some sort, in just about every message. Second, you should follow a few basic tactics to ensure your message gets through.

4. 5 future digital signage trends of 2018

This year is already shaping up to be an impressive year for digital signage, as organizations and the public have embraced the digitalization of…well, everything…and they want more.

Screens are rapidly getting wider and slimmer than ever before, and the software is also getting more innovative.

The trend of increased personalization and interactivity will continue in the future. While there are still challenges in creating a truly individualized experience at the screen, there will certainly be advances made as data flows improve to influence the point of customer contact.

3.McDonald's celebrates 50 years of Big Macs with digital signage dance-off

McDonald's has been consistently deploying digital signage, kiosks and other customer experience solutions inside their stores. The fast food giant is also deploying interactive experiences outdoors. McDonald's recently teamed up with JCDecaux Colombia to deliver a digital signage dance party.

The companies deployed an interactive display at a JCDecaux Colombia bus shelter in Bogota to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its trademark sandwich: The Big Mac. The outdoor displays challenged users to a dance off for a chance to win a McCoin, a McDonald's collectible item.

2. System on a chip versus media players: Which is the right choice?

When it comes to digital signage hardware, end users have two major options: media players and displays with an integrated System-on-a-Chip. Samsung first launched SoC displays in 2012, and has argued ever since that the displays offer a major advantage to media players.

Other companies, however, contend that SoC isn't all it's cracked up to be and media players are still the best bet.

The key difference comes down to price versus versatility.
