Digital displays are common in today's retail space, but it takes planning to execute a design strategy. Tom Nix, CEO of the location-based media company Scala, will try to help shed some light on the topic during this week's Digital Screenmedia Symposium.
Nix will moderate a panel discussion titled, "Integrating screenmedia into store design," according to a news release, which promises to delve into what goes into the planning of retail store design both in terms of architecture and merchandising. He'll be joined by Ignaz Gorischek Neiman-Marcus and Kyle Jeffery of Gensler.
"Scala is excited to be moderating a panel discussion" with those business leaders, Nix said in the release. "Their understanding of digital solutions that improve in-store customer engagement will provide attendees critical insight on how retailers and customer experience engines like Scala can work together to help achieve an immersive brand experience for consumers."
The symposium, under the direction of the Digital Screenmedia Association, runs May 9 and 10 in Dallas. Speakers include Mark Lopez of Two West Inc., Sean Andersen of Six Flags Entertainment, Brandon Elliott of Build-A-Bear Workshop and Leah Gentry of Sprint. Also, Raj Maini of Intel Corp., Shelley Pisarra of PepsiCo/Frito Lay and Shannon St. Clair of Yum! Brands.
Scala, a symposium sponsor, will also showcase two solutions aimed at retail, big box and fast casual environments. The Fling application lets users "throw" content from a tablet/mobile device onto a screen, while its QR code solution allows users control on-screen content and download information for later use.
