International communications and information technology company Harris Corp. announced at ISE 2011 the latest upgrades to its comprehensive digital out-of-home solution to support key vertical markets including retail, transport, leisure, corporate, and stadia/sports and live event venues.
At ISE 2011, Harris launched InfoCaster version 4.2 and Punctuate version 4.2, the InfoCaster DS550 player, and a new, more-rugged version of the InfoCaster DS1100 player for use in transport environments.
The latest enhancements to the InfoCaster 4.2 and Punctuate 4.2 platforms add to the Harris DOOH toolkit by addressing important new trends taking place in key vertical markets:
Stadia/sports and live event venues:
Stadium and venue operators at the Harris stand at ISE 2011 could view demonstrations of new features at work, including IPTV streaming, customizable web interfaces for network triggers, handheld remote control and closed captioning. The upgraded technology also permits the management of "moments of exclusivity" across the venue for maximum sponsor exposure.
Retail:
Harris said it would display new video-wall functionality for retailers at the show. The new InfoCaster video-wall technology is an upgrade to the InfoCaster Creator software and allows users to build canvassed output inherent to player devices. Images can be spanned across multiple players, with one large output feeding multiple monitors, without the need for a video processing unit. Images are rendered across multiple screens to match each screen's native resolution without stretching — no matter how many screens are used. In addition, display control and the integration with MICROS Point of Sale systems are available on the InfoCaster 4.2 platform.
Transport:
Updates to the InfoCaster DS1100 player appeal to visitors from the transport arena who need technology that is both powerful and resistant to external environmental factors, Harris said. This digital signage player is specifically designed to reliably operate in transportation environments and includes solid-state drives, 12v power, and has all fasteners locked and sealed to prevent loosening from shock and vibration.
Corporate:
The integration of the new InfoCaster 4.2 and Punctuate 4.2 platforms with Microsoft Outlook, as well as support for QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) will appeal to corporate communciations clients, Harris said. Support for Adobe Flash within the InfoCaster product will allow the repurposing of content from the marketing department, according to the company.
"Digital signage is about enhancing the customer and fan experience and maximizing a business' return on investment. By tailoring our DOOH solutions to the individual needs of a specific market, we're better able to deliver on those objectives," said Ian Collis, European director of marketing for Harris Broadcast Communications.
