ScreenScape Networks Inc., announced that it has been selected by Action Car & Truck Accessories to power a nationwide in-store digital signage media channel.

"We've recently expanded our store network across Canada with locations east to west," said Jason Wells, director of marketing, Action Car & Truck Accessories, in the announcement. "All locations will feature a beautiful digital display, powered by ScreenScape, featuring the latest news and information from Action Car & Truck and its partners."

According to ScreenScape, just as consumers are shifting from conventional cable television to Internet-streaming devices such as Apple TV and Google Chromecast that put them in control of their own home entertainment, the world of business is now turning to Internet technology to take control of screens inside their place of business. Brand marketers and retail networks use the technology to publish digital signage content on screens inside their stores. Health clinics, university campuses and other kinds of venues use it to engage and entertain their visitors. It's part of a growing technology arena called place-based media that is rapidly turning TV screens outside the home into location-specific media channels, the company said.

In the announcement, Wells pointed specifically to how ScreenScape technology has simplified the process of managing a large-scale digital signage network: "After gaining some experience with ScreenScape we realized the technology offered us the right combination of ease of use and cost effectiveness that we needed to be successful with this program at a national level. Their plug-and-play solution helps us to get our stores started quickly, using TVs they already own, and this really helps to keep the cost and complexity of a national rollout down to a minimum."

ScreenScape Founder and CEO Mark Hemphill cited Action Car & Truck's project as an example of a growing trend among automotive-related businesses with a storefront. "Our solution is an excellent fit for any progressive-minded automotive retailer," Hemphill said. "Why play cable television when you can easily entertain and inform your guests in a way that aligns with your own sales and marketing objectives?"

Action Car and Truck Accessories use their network for a variety of local and national marketing objectives. "It runs the gamut," Wells said. "We use ScreenScape to provide our guests with entertaining automotive related information. We promote our loyalty programs; we give our industry and community partners an opportunity to show their products; and we try to reinforce all the other great things we do to support our customers, from social media to community events. The bottom line is we try to engage every customer and make good use of their time while they were nice enough to pay us a visit."

According to the announcement, Action Car and Truck Accessories is Canada's largest automotive accessory retail chain with 37 locations across Canada.
