What digital signage news was everyone most interested in last month? Here it is.

Now that we've all had a chance to collect ourselves and recover from the Las Vegas experience after this year's record-setting Digital Signage Expo, let's take a look back at last month's top stories on DigitalSignageToday.com — as chosen by you, the readers.

Shockingly, the tastiness of Dunkin' Donuts and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue attracted a significant chunk of the month's pageviews.

But, without further ado, and in reverse numerical order, here are last month's top five most-read articles from DST (by total pageviews):

5. "Vending machines upgrading to digital signage": This feature looked at how an enterprising Utah firm is giving old-school technology like vending machines a new-school technology upgrade.

Provo, Utah-based AirVend recently launched a new touchscreen digital signage solution aimed at providing existing vending machines with retrofitted upgrades in order to keep pace with advances in technology, consumer expectations and one slightly controversial piece of legislation — the Affordable Care Act, better known as ObamaCare.

4. "Digital signage projection tech unwraps SI Swimsuit issue (Video)": This piece gave readers a glimpse of the Las Vegas launch party for the iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, in which projection technology turned Caesars Palace into a giant movie screen showing swimsuit-clad beauties.

3. "How to make mobile work for digital signage (and vice versa), pt. I": The first of a two-parter covering a DST interview with the head of a company specializing in mobile marketing campaigns looked at how to integrate digital signage into the dominant technology of the day, the smartphone.

"The more features we keep putting into our phones — mobile payments, mobile wallets, rewards, mobile for transit — all of that is coming around the corner, so it's definitely not going away anytime soon," said Mikhail Damiani, CEO and co-founder of mobile-marketing solutions provider Blue Bite, in the article. "If anything it's going to become more important in our daily routine, and as such I think brands and agencies are going to continue to use mobile as a medium to connect with their audience on a greater scale with each year."

2. "Tesco testing new digital signage, augmented reality pilot": U.K. retail and supermarket giant Tesco has a history of daring pilots with digital signage and other advanced consumer-engagement technologies, and it's added another chapter to that history with its latest trial, teaming with Cisco for an interesting pilot.

The pilot is trialing an array of interactive technologies at three store locations across the U.K. The new customer-facing upgrades include a digital signage display that advertises clothing available through the retailer's F&F line, and a self-service touchscreen kiosk that allows customers to peruse online items, use barcode scanners for product ratings, reviews and suggested accessories, and make purchases using chip-and-PIN.

1. "Digital signage drives traffic at Dunkin' Donuts": The title says it all: A Dunkin' Donuts franchisee is using outdoor LED digital signs to tempt thousands of drivers passing by every day in an effort to drive up traffic.

And while the franchisee said he doesn't have hard evidence to back it up, he does believe it's more than paying for itself.

"I don't have quantitative sales data; in fact, I never know what drives somebody into my store. Was it the radio ad, the TV ad, social media? But I want to get exposure to as many customers as often as I can, and this enables me to do that extremely effectively," he said in the article. "There's no other way for me to reach the number of people I do on such a local level."
