EasySignage Launches Open API for Automated Digital Signage Management
EasySignage has launched its Open API, which allows organisations to connect external systems directly to their signage network and automate large-scale screen management.

The REST API enables developers and IT teams to push content, manage playlists and schedules, control screens, and retrieve operational data without interacting with the EasySignage dashboard. Any system that can make a standard HTTP request can connect, eliminating the need for any proprietary connectors, SDKs, or middleware.
How the Open API Works
Administrators create API keys inside the EasySignage dashboard. Each key has specific permissions that are set area by area across various elements, including screens, groups, playlists, channels, zones, sync groups, schedules, folders, and media assets. Permissions can vary from no access to read-only or full access, so each key is limited to only the areas that the connecting system requires.
Authentication is handled by a single header per request. The key automatically identifies the account, with no interactive sign-in to manage. Interactive API documentation is built into the dashboard and requires no separate developer portal or account.
What It Enables
The Open API supports four categories of automation:
- Automated content updates: External systems can push new content to screens as soon as the source data changes, removing the manual step of updating the screens after a change occurs.
- Playlist and schedule management: Systems can programmatically create, reorder, and swap playlists or adjust schedules based on predetermined times, conditions, or events.
- Fleet-wide screen control: Multi-site operators and integrators can monitor the status of every display within their account and apply changes across large screen networks with a single request.
- Reporting and monitoring: The API works in both directions. Organisations can retrieve data from EasySignage for integration into their own dashboards, uptime reports, or operational monitoring tools.
Security and Access Control
The API is designed around the principle of least privilege. Each key is associated with a single account and cannot be redirected to another one. When an API key is deleted, access is revoked immediately with no grace period, and the action is recorded in the account’s records. All failed requests return a uniform error response regardless of the reason, preventing the API from being used to determine which keys are valid or which accounts have access.
Availability
API access is included with the EasySignage Premium and Enterprise plans. Each account can hold up to 10 API keys. Full setup documentation is available atOpen API Documentation.
The Open API joins the platform's recently launched AI assistant, which connects EasySignage to Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini through MCP for simple, plain-language screen management. The two capabilities work together effectively: the API manages automated, repeatable integrations, while the AI assistant handles one-off requests from team members.
