Technologic Systems integrates Ubuntu Core into single board computer

Technologic Systems is now offering Ubuntu Core for its TS-7970 single board computer, via a partnership with Canonical. The TS-7970 is built for industrial applications or for smart devices, medical systems and more, according to a press release.

Users can select a 800 MHz i.MX6 Solo with 1x Cortex-A9 core and 1GB RAM, or a 1GHz i.MX7 Quad 4x Cortes-A9 cores with 2GB RAM. The Solo model can handle temperatures ranging from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, and the Quad can withstand -20 to 70 degrees Celsius, according to the release. Other features include:

  • A variety of I/O options such as CAN, ADC.
  • 122 x 112 millimeter dimensions.
  • A Broad Support Package with source code and Linux 4.1 kernel.

"The TS-7970 single board computer brings Ubuntu Core to the popular i.MX6 platform, delivering a new level of life-cycle management, monetization and security to a whole range of IoT applications. Ubuntu Core delivers groundbreaking security, management, operations, and upgradability in a compact developer-friendly platform, underpinned by the open 'snap' packaging technology," Mike Bell, executive vice president of devices and IoT, Canonical, said in the release.
