Ontario shopping center adds 70-inch digital directories from Vertigo

December 21, 2010

Toronto, Ontario, Canada – The Scarborough (Ontario) Town Centre recently completed a two-year, $62 million renovation that also included digital mall directories and advertising display units from Vertigo Digital Display of Toronto. Scarborough Town Centre is the first installation in the world for nine of Vertigo's "Galleria" double-sided, 70-inch LCD digital directories, according to the announcement from Vertigo.

Vertigo's Galleria digital-mall display delivers a dynamic directory and map of the mall combined with near life-sized advertising images, which can highlight specific mall promotions or retailer messages.

"Vertigo has been a leader in mall displays since 2002, first with static backlit displays and then digital, but the new Galleria display is a significant advancement for the industry." Vertgo president and CEO Brad Gleeson said in the announcement. "The nine Galleria digital mall directories at Scarborough Town Centre provide valuable shopper information while helping to promote retailers in an effective and dynamic way, all in an attractive and compact design."

The 70-inch, diagonal-LCD displays on each side of the system can be controlled separately and remotely using the system's on-board Internet connected media player and a number of digital-signage software platforms and services. The dual-sided displays measure less than 11 inches in depth, which is comparable to standard static-sign displays. The unit can also be configured for outdoor or semi-outdoor applications with weatherproof enclosures and high-brightness, sunlight-viewable displays.
