NRF 2008 opens in New York

NEW YORK The National Retail Federation's 97th Annual Convention & Expo opened this morning at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.Approximately 600 exhibitors are on hand, hoping to make valuable connections with the 17,000 registered attendees.

Technologies and solutions on the show floor run the retail gamut: from supply chain management to POS, from interactive displays to RFID. Large portions of the show floor are devoted to specific retail focuses such as logistics and supply chain, green retailing, marketing and customer experience. Traffic also has been brisk so far at the X08 "store of the future" exhibit cluster.
The morning began with a performance by Blue Man Group, followed by an opening address from Gymboree Chief Executive Matthew McCauley.
