Real Digital Media, provider of the enterprise-class NEOCAST digital signage platform, and Anthony, a Dover Company, today introduced the iDOOR, a merchandising solution that incorporates a media player and transparent LCD embedded within cooler or freezer doors to play full-motion video at the point of purchase.

The iDOOR, powered by NEOCAST, is intended to combine digital technology and in-store merchandising strategies to deliver contextually relevant messaging for improved shopper engagement and conversion, the companies announced. The patented technology delivers high-definition visual promotions that target and connect with shopper lifestyles and demographics. It's designed to increase opportunities for shopper engagement by placing actionable messages in the line of sight of shoppers, along their path to purchase and ultimately at their point of decision.

Real Digital Media CEO Ken Goldberg said in the announcement that the "iDOOR is poised to transform cooler and freezer merchandising across convenience stores, grocery and fuel stations, and places digital signage at the core of strategic planning for retailers and brands in this space. This solution leverages the strengths of Anthony and Real Digital Media, considerable engineering insights, patented IP and deep market knowledge. The result is a high-value application of digital signage that appeals to retailers and their vendor partners, as well as the consumer."

Anthony is a manufacturer and solutions provider of glass refrigerator and freezer doors, lighting systems and display equipment for use in commercial refrigeration systems. Its patented iDOOR "is the only digital solution for cooler and freezer door lineups that connects the shopper, message and product at the same time, allowing retailers to understand and engage with their customers on a more relevant and personal level," according to the announcment.

"The iDOOR revolutionizes how retailers promote and merchandise their brands, engage with shoppers and increase overall sales," said Carre' Bistline, Anthony's director of business development for digital signage solutions, in the announcement. "The solution artfully pairs digital signage with how shoppers navigate through a store and optimizes messaging along the path to purchase. We think the iDOOR is the best solution for reaching the shopper at the point of decision with relevant messages, and will positively impact in-store conversions."

According to the companies' announcement, a national convenience store chain recently tested the Anthony iDOOR for a 3-month pilot program. Results from the program showed the iDOOR increased cooler-door traffic by 13 percent, and increased the number of cooler-door purchases by 7 percent.

The iDOOR is available now in cooler, freezer and standalone glass door applications, and is available in various transparent screen sizes and finishes. Select existing Anthony doors products also can be retrofitted with an iDOOR to bring targeted high-definition messages directly to retail shoppers.
