This year's European Sign Expo will include a wide-ranging educational program for users and designers of visual communication and digital signage installations.
According to a news release, topics covered will include social media convergence, design, content and considerations for end-users, retailers and resellers, as well as sign-makers looking to adopt digital out-of-home technology.
European Expo, a dedicated signage event, will be held in London from June 25 to 27. Attendance to the educational portion, to be held in two conference theaters on the exhibition floor, is free for conference registrants.
The digital sign design sessions will look at examples of successful content development, according to the release, with speakers such as BSkyB producer Hugh Westbrook, who will discuss re-purposing content produced for other platforms such as television as well as considerations for location. The converging channels theme will cover increasing integration of screenmedia with mobile, social and online. Elaine Cook, strategic marketing director for EMEA embedded retail at Intel, will highlight innovations such as digital signage linked to social media, Web searches and leveraging big data. Daniel Parisien, vice president of marketing and strategy for BroadSign, will explore how technology can weave digital media channels together as a single consistent experience.
The signs, spaces and structures stream will explore digital screen technology within natural and built environments; Wildstone CEO Damian Cox will present recent digital outdoor projects such as The Chiswick Towers and how to develop a good fit with surroundings. Beaver Group will highlight case studies, including BUPA and the Royal Institute of British Architecture, to illustrate how digital signage contributes to an environment.
Among the speakers on digital signage integration are BrightSign CEO Jeff Hastings, who will answer "best-practice" questions for specifiers, users and suppliers of digital signage. Retail is the focus of the signs and stores sessions, with Leif Liljebrunn, CEO of Sweden's ZetaDisplay, discussing the challenges, results and metrics of digital signage in supermarkets and other stores. In addition, the dedicated sign forum will include free educational sessions on topics central to the sign industry.
The expo will run concurrently with the co-located FESPA 2013.
