Distinct, a South Florida-based technology manufacturer for the boating industry, has released a new line of digital displays. Its new flagship model is a 32-inch interactive, stand-alone display the size of nearly 10 tablets, according to a company press release.
Distinct also makes 19- and 27-inch freestanding models, and 46-, 55- and 70-inch wall-mounted displays that have interactive touchscreens.
The company also recently acquired a new office and larger manufacturing facility in Boynton Beach, Florida, to help offset high demand and to reduce delivery times for its digital signage products, the release said.
"We didn't get into this business to build technology for the sake of technology … rather, we saw a need to deliver the experience that customers expect nowadays, and built the technology to do so," said Jani Gyllenberg, founder of Distinct, who, prior to starting Distinct led the marketing team at a boat dealer. "The challenge for us has been that we aren't just creating a better version of an existing product, we're instead defining a new category of [marketing] products. Although new technology can often be intimidating to this industry, what's really taken us back is how quickly dealers and manufacturers have embraced it. For them, it isn't just a product, it's a way of selling."
Additionally, new software makes the displays fully turn-key and now feature boat dealers' complete inventories. Dealers are able to use photos and videos to showcase all of their boats in stock, the release said. Distinct's displays enable customers to customize their boat. Dealers benefit from detailed analytics that reveal which boats customers have been viewing most often, which options are the most popular, financing data and other information.
Distinct's displays also provide integrated sea-trial scheduling. Using the touchscreen, customers can select a time that's convenient for them to test a boat. Dealers receive a sea-trial request with the customer's contact information to qualify the customer and confirm the appointment, the release said.
