Cinema Scene Marketing has announced the completion of the first installation of its Digital Poster Initiative — deploying full-motion digital signage displays in place of the traditional paper movie posters.
The Muvico Theaters Thousand Oaks 14 in Thousand Oaks, California, is now "an industry-wide showcase location featuring Cinema Scene's suite of digital media and menu board products," the company said.
"Since the introduction of the TrailerVision Digital Media Network in 2007, Cinema Scene has been at the forefront of bringing digital media and marketing solutions to cinema lobbies. By retrofitting movie poster cases into dynamic digital displays, movie posters come alive with motion and animation," said Joe Ross, partner, Cinema Scene Marketing, in the announcement. The DPI solution, when coupled with Cinema Scene's existing digital solutions that include TrailerVision, VideoWall, Digital Menu Boards, Auditorium Signage and Wayfinding, is intended as a showcase for the integrated all-digital vision Cinema Scene is bringing to the movie going experience.
"We are excited to build on our existing partnership with Cinema Scene. With the installation of these digital posters, Carmike Cinemas continues to deliver to its patrons a state-of-the-art entertainment experience; from engaging digital posters to digital menu boards, and culminating with luxurious seating and leading projection technology," said David Passman, CEO at Carmike Cinemas.
Cinema Scene said movie studios have been excited to work with them to utilize the marketing functionality available in their new DPI installations. Multiscreen takeovers allow studios to design a more visually stimulating animated movie poster for upcoming releases, the company said.
The launch of the Thousand Oaks location signals the beginning of a multiyear Digital Poster Initiative in which Cinema Scene will work toward an industry-wide organization of key studios and exhibitor partners to develop a standardized model ensuring an effective and efficient solution throughout the cinema environment, the company said.
