Cinema chain raises the curtain on digital menu boards

August 6, 2013

Movie theater chain Carmike Cinemas Inc. and in-theater digital signage solution provider Cinema Scene Marketing announced today the launch of the initial phase of Carmike's chainwide conversion to digital menu boards.

"Carmike is committed to providing the ultimate moviegoing experience," Carmike Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Fred Van Noy said in the announcement. "We believe the digital menu board installations in our concession areas will deliver on our promise to upgrade the experience for our patrons."

Cinema Scene will provide the installation, content management and ongoing software servicing. When fully deployed, Cinema Scene will manage approximately 2,200 individual displays across the 245 Carmike locations. Cinema Scene's deployment teams have been working with Carmike management to finalize the deployments of hardware and software. Upon installation, Cinema Scene will transition to designing new creative content and managing all ongoing price changes and promotions.

Cinema Scene Managing Partner Joe Ross said, "Cinema Scene brings content management and promotional marketing experience to this relationship which will result in more effective results for Carmike in the concessions area of the lobby. We are uniquely positioned to serve Carmike by installing and managing the content on these screens. We will also leverage our promotional marketing programs which will be even more effective when visually communicated on digital screens."

Cinema Scene said it leveraged its partnership with NEC Display Solutions to outfit the Carmike locations with the latest release of NEC's V423 display.
