CastaVista launches hosted digital signage service

March 26, 2007

PORTLAND, Ore. — CastaVista, a company with roots in hosted services and set-top-box middleware development, announced the launch of its first product offering, Hosted Digital Signage Platform. This new platform offers point-of-sale locations and offices, regardless of the size, a way to deploy digital, high-definition heads-up signage.

CastaVista provides a Web-based interface for the customer to configure the sign, including pre-packaged news feeds, ready-to-use backgrounds, themes and stock photos. Customers can then mix and match the pre-packaged content with their own by entering text, uploading pictures or entering their location for services such as weather. A typical sign can be created in less than 10 minutes without the need for a graphic designer.

The service cost ranges from free (in an advertising-supported model) to $19 per month per display. LCD displays of various sizes can be used and the service requires use of either Viewsonic or Cisco Media players. CastaVista Hosted Digital Signage service is currently compatible with Viewsonic NMP-530 and NMP-500, and Cisco 4300G media players.
