Digital signage media player provider BrightSign LLC and restaurant technology provider WAND Corp. have announced a partnership to deliver new jointly developed capabilities, as the adoption of digital menu boards accelerates amid industry recognition of revenue improvements and operational efficiency gains, the companies said in a joint statement.

WAND Digital's CMS is built with a comprehensive set of features and benefits engineered specifically to the needs of QSR and fast casual operations, the announcement said. Enterprise-class, scalable deployments across concepts, franchisees and groups of stores can be done with the push of a button, even from a mobile device, while still giving the appropriate level of control to managers in the field, the company said.

BrightSign, with more than 500,000 players shipped globally, said it provides a digital menu board player solution aimed at ensuring installations will be 100 percent reliable.

"Digital menu boards must work all of the time, period," WAND Corp. President Dave Perrill said in the announcement. "BrightSign and WAND share a deep understanding of how important uptime is to restaurant operations. This isn't simply an advertising vehicle — the content on the menu board directly impacts revenue."

The combination of WAND's cloud-based, QSR-specific software and restaurant management expertise and BrightSign's portfolio of solid-state devices with no moving parts to fail is highly compatible with both companies' shared mantra of providing unparalleled reliability for their mutual clients, the companies said.

"BrightSign's commitment to deliver forward-thinking solutions for the restaurant industry is driving this new integration with WAND," BrightSign CEO Jeff Hastings said in the announcement. "Our collaboration puts innovative digital menu boards and other promotional displays within easy reach of restaurants of all sizes — from single-location cafes to expansive chains."

BrightSign's wide range of features across multiple player models — including HTML5 support and interactive capabilities — is part of a turnkey solution delivered by WAND, complete with creative content services, deployment capabilities and 24/7 operational support, according to the announcement.

BrightSign and WAND will demonstrate this new digital menu board solution in BrightSign's booth at this year's National Restaurant Association Show 2015, May 16–19 in Chicago.
