After months of negotiations, APN Outdoor has received approval to install a roadside digital billboard in downtown Sydney, Australia. According to a news release, the billboard located in the Kings Cross precinct at the intersection of Darlinghurst and William Street, will be seen by more than 2.8 million people each month.
The decision required months of planning and negotiating by APN Outdoor's digital media team, the company said, and the approval "represents a great milestone for our valued clients as well as demonstrating our continued leadership and innovation of digital across Australia by delivering this first to market for Sydney," according to Damien Rath, APN Outdoor's general manager of digital media.
In keeping with city policy, the company added, the billboard will rotate through advertisements every 45 seconds, which gives advertisers the opportunity to tailor their campaign message with effective dayparting to their audiences. And the company said it carefully selected the site, looking for visual prominence without compromising the urban landscape. APN Outdoor received design assistance from the architectural firm Kann Finch.
The new billboard will also also carry messages for the Sydney City Council, promote festivals and events and provide news updates. The installation should be completed later this year.
