APN Outdoor has gained approval to install a large-format digital billboard in Brisbane, Australia's central business district. According to a news release, it's the first such board in the CBD.
The site, a busy Queen Street intersection, has been housed signage and billboards for more than 130 years, the company said, but Brisbane officials worried its heritage would be tarnished with the addition of digital. After several months of negotiation between the Brisbane City Council and Brad Lindsay, APN Outdoor's Queensland commercial director, the Council granted approval to install a high definition LED digital billboard.
APN said the new sign, dubbed "The Queen," paired with "The Digital Darling" in Sydney and Melbourne's Young & Jackson digital billboard, creates an "Eastern Seaboard roadside digital pack" and provides an exclusive opportunity for advertisers to display their brands on digital boards in Australia's three busiest CBDs.
"The strength of APN Outdoor is further extended by the invaluable competitive edge digital billboards can offer our advertisers," Damien Rath, APN general manager of digital media, said in the release. "It's a premium product that gives campaigns the unique opportunity to be reactive to their audiences with day-parting, 24/7."
The board will be installed later this year.
