How Walibi Holland built a park-wide digital signage network with Bizplay

Walibi Holland runs a park-wide digital signage network powered by Bizplay, delivering real-time queue times, dynamic menus, and fast updates across every zone. With simple workflows, stable playback, and flexible customization, teams keep guests informed at high speed, all day, every day.

At Walibi Holland, one of the largest amusement parks in the Netherlands, thrill rides aren't the only things running at high speed. Behind the scenes, a digital signage network orchestrates real-time communication across restaurants, queue lines, retail zones, and event spaces. And for more than seven years, that entire system has been powered by Bizplay.

When we visited the park, Scott Bravenboer (Events & Entertainment) and Charles Dumay (Systems & Networking) shared how they've scaled their signage and why AV teams appreciate the technical simplicity behind it.

Bringing real-time information to a high-traffic environment

On peak days, tens of thousands of guests move through the park. For AV integrators, this is the classic challenge:

high visitor flow + rapidly changing information + multi-department ownership.

Walibi Holland needed a signage platform that could:

  • manage live data feeds,
  • support distributed content creation,
  • remain stable on large screens and LED walls,
  • and run reliably across different operational zones.

"Static posters simply couldn't keep up anymore," Scott said.

Live queue times, custom built for scale

One of Walibi's most-used features is their real-time queue information.

Together with Bizplay, Walibi Holland built a custom pro-level integration that pulls live queue data directly from their ride management system. Within seconds, updated times appear on screen, including the massive LED display on the main square near the Ferris wheel.

Charles:
"It just works. The queue times are always accurate, and visitors instantly see where to go next."

For AV integrators, it shows how custom app development can transform a standard installation into a solution that fits the client's exact operational needs.

Restaurants: Digital menu boards with instant updates

Before switching, every menu update required reprinting signs. Today, all restaurants use digital menu boards.

Price change?
Instant.

Item sold out?
Gone immediately.

Special events like Halloween Fright Nights?
The menu theme transforms to match the vibe.

"It's all automatic now," Scott said. "We can update a single item or redesign an entire board in seconds. It fits the tempo of the park."

Distributed content management that actually works

Walibi Holland uses Bizplay's permission settings to give each department control over its own content. Marketing manages core brand assets; operations adjust day-specific messaging; restaurant managers update menus.

The system is easy enough that even non-technical staff learn it quickly.

Charles:
"Once they understand pages, playlists, and channels, they're off. And if they need help, we can step in."

Motion content boosts engagement

Walibi Holland relies heavily on video and animation across the park. Supplier campaigns, teaser videos, branded motion graphics, everything runs through Bizplay.

Movement wins.

Scott shared a simple example:
"Moving images, like videos or animations, grab more attention. For example, we used to have static signs at one of our roller coasters explaining how to close the special safety harness. No one paid attention to those. We replaced them with a screen playing a video, and now people actually watch it."

Reliable playback and easy development

All playback devices run on Windows, chosen for long-term stability after testing alternatives.

"Setting up a new device takes almost no time," Charles said. "And grouping screens by zone gives us full visibility across the park."

With the channel preview tool, teams always know exactly how content will appear before it goes live.

Scheduling that runs like clockwork

Scott initially doubted automated scheduling:

"I thought I needed to manually hit 'go live' to be safe."

But after testing Bizplay's scheduling:

"It was flawless, down to the second. Now we trust it completely."

Why Walibi Holland keeps expanding with Bizplay

Over seven years, their digital signage footprint has grown from a small installation to a park-wide network supporting:

  • Event information
  • Wayfinding
  • Live queue times for all rides
  • Digital menu boards
  • Retail promotions
  • Advertising in the park
  • Internal communication

Scott summarized it well:

"Bizplay is simple, fast, and reliable. Everyone can use it."

Walibi's story shows what AV integrators already know: when the software is flexible and easy to deploy, the network grows, sometimes far beyond the original scope.
