According to the Washington Post, the owner of the NHL's Washington Capitals, WNBA's Mystics and NBA's Wizards, is working to convince the D.C. Council to approve legislation that would allow him to put as many as nine digital billboards on the Verizon Center, owned by his Monumental Sports and Entertainment.
The owner, Ted Leonsis, said the signs would deliver both tax income to the city and an important revenue stream to his company.
