Travel Plaza TV digital signage network takes Metallica into 3D

September 11, 2013

Autostereoscopic 3D digital signage provider Exceptional 3D has completed the 2D-to-3D conversion of the trailer for the movie "Metallica: Through The Never" with partner and 3D digital signage network operator Travel Plaza TV, according to a company announcement.

"Metallica: Through The Never" will have its world premiere this week at the Toronto International Film Festival, the announcement said, but the "glasses-free" 3D version of the trailer aired nationally last week in Travel Plaza convenience stores throughout the U.S. on Travel Plaza TV's nationwide 3D digital signage network.

"Having the chance to work on this project with Travel Plaza TV was very exciting," Eric Angello, CMO and chief creative officer for Exceptional 3D, said in the announcement. "The trailer looks incredible in high-definition 3D, and now customers have a chance to enjoy a taste of the 3D experience, without the glasses, whenever they stop at one of the Travel Plaza TV network locations."

Travel Plaza TV's glasses-free 3D television and digital signage network exclusively features Exceptional 3D's autostereoscopic 3D display technology, the announcement said. The U.S.-based national 3D digital signage network is capable of playing both 3D content and legacy 2D content in sequence or at the same time through its content management software.
