U.S. customers of StrandVision Digital Signage, a digital signage software-as-a-service provider, have been able to display weather information since the company was founded nearly a decade ago. Now its international customers can get in on the act, too.
According to a news release, StrandVision's normal content mix has always included a feature to automatically format and present weather conditions and forecasts based on a screen’s geo-location. That information is updated hourly and automatically sent to all digital media players configured to use it. Customers with multiple licenses can present localized weather forecasts by activating the weather service option for their entire network or any user specified group, the company said.
The new weather option, provided by World Weather Online, uses global positioning information to deliver updated local weather reports. StrandVision automatically detects and enters the information into a customer account during the free digital signage software registration. Account administrators can refine the GPS information and drill down for more localized reports.
"We've provided the licensed free digital signage weather content for our United States customers since we started almost 10 years ago," founder and CEO Mike Strand said in a news release. "However, as our customer base continues to expand internationally, we decided to make the investment to provide localized electronic sign weather content around the globe. Now we provide free digital signage weather content (anywhere) in the world, from Aruba to Zürich and everywhere in between, with a simple selection on our online electronic signage portal."
