Starbucks recently opened its first company-owned store at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, the second of its Walt Disney park-located locations, both of which feature digital signage as a key design element. According to the company’s blog, the new store features a distinctive design created by Senior Designer David Daniels.
Starbucks also opened in Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., in March. Daniels said both locations are the result of the “magic” that can happen when two “storytelling companies” work together.
Both Disney Starbucks feature in-store interactive touchscreens that enable guests at Disney World to interact with guests at Disneyland, a first for the coffee brand. The digital signage display panels are 70 inches wide and use built-in cameras to “create chalk sketches of guests and their surroundings,” according to the Starbucks blog.
“This is the beginning of connecting our stores globally through technology so you could share a cup of coffee from coast-to-coast,” Daniels said.
