An intelligent digital signage retail-shelf solution using SHELFVISION shelf-edge display strips from Display Solution AG will be on display this week at the Intel booth at the National Retail Federation Retail's BIG Show in New York City, according to an announcement from Display Solution AG.
Japan's SB Creative Corp., a member of SoftBank Group, worked with Intel Corp. to launch the solution using the display strips from Germany's Display Solution AG.
According to the announcement, the rapidly ongoing digital retail revolution is making it essential to connect online and offline marketing on in-store digital signage applications, so the companies developed a new and futuristic intelligent shelf. Equipped with SHELFVISION digital LCD strips it provides eye-level, real-time changeable content such as videos, animations, TV spots or other moving advertising items on very limited space at the shelf-edge. A digital LCD panel on top is an additional possibility to boost product appeals. In addition, a motion sensor can be used as gesture or voice sensor. The intelligent shelf is equipped with a short range communication device and machine-to-machine communication capability for interactive customer communication.
"SB Creative has been developing digital signage service for many years, and recently we are focusing on providing solutions for retail," SB Creative CEO and President Kosei Tsuchihashi said in the announcement. "We have particularly sought for solutions that could maximize omnichannel strategy and O2O commerce. Display Solution AG's SHELFVISION can be attached to existing merchandise shelving properly, and show decisive information of each product above. We believe this can really influence customer's buying decisions."
