Screen UK, Harris to host breakfast briefing on stadium digital signage

November 2, 2010

The Screen UK has announced that it is holding another in its series of breakfast briefing events on Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. - noon, at Harris' brand new state-of-the-art Reading (U.K.) showroom and headquarters. "Stadium Media — DOOH & The Crowd" will look at how digital out-of-home is being used to transform major sports and entertainment arenas.

With sports media rights and sponsorship at sports venues commanding ever greater valuations, The Screen looks at how digital media is getting in on the game. Are clubs purely focused on improving the visitor experience — with replay screens and improved onsite messaging — or are they also now looking to digital out-of-home to provide additional income opportunities?

How is advertising within arenas changing and will developments in technology soon be putting a TV screen in the back of every fan's seat? To understand all the opportunities for the digital signage industry across sport facilities and entertainment venues, The Screen has brought together speakers from the key organizations working across stadium media and technology.

Attendees will hear brief presentations, have time to network and discuss the points raised, while also having open access to tour Harris' demo, showcase and canteen facilities. There is limited space available for this one-off event, so early registration is recommended.

  • Antony Marcou – managing director, Sports Revolution, a media rights and sponsorship agency for stadiums across the United Kingdom. Marcou will present various case studies from around U.K. sport and entertainment to assess the media impact of digital out-of-home.
  • Mike Arthur – general manager, Sports & Live Events, Harris.
Arthur will discuss Harris' next generation digital implementation at Orlando's AFL Amway Center Stadium and the different business cases between North America and the English Premier League, particularly in light of the 2018 World Cup bid and new FIFA video requirements.
  • Jonathan Cooper - Business Development, NEC Display Solutions
Cooper will outline the key current and future developments driving digital display technology in stadiums, with examples from NEC's recent implementations across Europe.
  • Ross Burling - Sports & OHM, Barco
Burling will focus on the developments in digital field side advertising, touching on how to maximize ROI with technologies such as pitch-side perimeter LEDs.
