Scala goes into Russian government, American c-stores

October 6, 2010

According to AV Interactive, the Council of the Federation in Moscow has deployed a digital signage network powered by Scala to modernize its internal communications. Working with Scala certified partner Dismart, the Council installed a five-screen digital network to increase its information and news distribution and to help reduce expenses associated with paper and printing.

Dismart chose Scala 5 for the deployment, and the Council is using Scala Content Manager and Designer for content development and translations and three Scala Players to broadcast the news and information.

The screens provide timetable information regarding meetings and the discussion topics of the meetings, the decisions that were made during the meetings, news from the Council of the Federation and general news items from around the country and the world.

The Council also is exploring adding an emergency alert component so that the digital network can also operate as a crisis center, providing senators and government workers with up-to-date information in case of urgent situations.

Also, California-based Convenience TV Inc. recently announced that it has completed its network software and operating system transition to Scala.

"This transition will make our network expansion much easier and more dynamic," Convenience TV president and CEO Norman Knowles said.
