Report: LCD, LED, OLED, E-paper to reach 643 million units by 2022

Flexible displays, which include LCD, LED, OLED and E-Paper, is expected to grow from 169.9 million units in 2017 to 643 million units by 2022, according to a report by Tractica.

This technology is seeing growth, because it offers more durable and lighter displays than traditional materials. They are primarily being used by digital signage, tablets, wearables, shelving labels, TVs and more.

"The effect of flexible and conformable displays will be transformational," Wil McCarthy, senior analyst, said in the report. "They will literally change the appearance and function of our personal devices, our vehicles, our homes, and the built environment."
