PGA of Australia tees off digital billboard campaigns

Digital billboards in Melbourne and Sydney displaying leaderboards for Australian PGA tournaments with APN Outdoor digital signage campaigns.

Australian outdoor media provider APN Outdoor has teed off a new digital billboard campaign with the Emirates Australian Open digital leaderboard campaign.

Coinciding with the 2014 Emirates Australian Open, the campaign launched Thursday, Nov. 27, and ran through Sunday, Nov. 30, across APN Outdoor's digital billboard network. The creative displayed live results from the tournament, including the top six leaders and their overall scores, number of completed holes and score on the current day's round.

The live results were fed to the digital billboards via an XML data feed and broadcast on APN Outdoor's digital inventory across Sydney and Melbourne. Results were updated each time the Emirates creative is displayed on the billboard's rotation schedule.

"The Emirates Australian Open is fast becoming one of the most anticipated and highly regarded events in Sydney's extensive sporting calendar, and it is great to be able to share live updates across the city for those who can't be there on the day," said David White, the managing director for World Sports Group, the event rights holders for Emirates Australian Open, in the announcement. "The chance to incorporate live scoreboards in Melbourne as well is a fabulous extension of our presence interstate and an exciting way to connect our Victorian audience to the live action in Sydney over the coming days."

APN Outdoor will run a mirror campaign in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane for the 2014 Australian PGA Championship, which runs Dec. 11–14.

"Subsequently we are constantly seeking new and innovative outlets to promote the tournament, and APN Outdoor have been a great partner providing us with many exciting and inventive options. The digital leaderboard is a great example of our strategic alignment and we are so excited for it to come to life across the country in December."
