New wave of Shuttle media players splashing down at DSE16

Shuttle Computer Group announced a new wave of Intel Skylake-based digital signage media players that will be on display at this year's DSE.

March 14, 2016

Shuttle Computer Group Inc., the designer of small-form-factor computers, announced its first wave of Skylake-based 4K digital signage media players that range from what the company describes as entry level to "powerhouses designed to take on the most sophisticated content."

The company said it will be showcasing them in its booth at this year's Digital Signage Expo, this week in Las Vegas. Shuttle also said it will be exhibiting the DS67U, a new 4K Bluetooth- and WiFi-enabled media player at the show.

The Intel Skylake-based players include:

  • Shuttle DH110 - Able to support two independent displays, the DH110's heatpipe cooling system and smart fan are designed to ensure reliably cool performance for long operation, the company said. With built-in USB 2.0, RS232/422/485 and PS/2 I/O ports, it has connectivity options for multiple peripherals and supports two Intel Gigabit LAN ports, for increased installation flexibility in digital signage applications. The DH110 features a 1.3-liter slim design and body thickness of only 43 mm, with significantly fewer cables and no daughter board. This makes for easy assembly, enhanced thermal efficiency and system stability due to increased airflow, the company said.
  • Shuttle DH170 - Made for high-performance vertical markets like digital signage, the new DH170 slim PC has an Intel built-in graphics engine for 4K/Ultra HD video playback. It also supports three independent screen displays via two DisplayPort and one HDMI ports. Only 43 mm thick and VESA mountable, the DH170 is designed to be easily integrated into diverse business environments, and is approved for 24/7 non-stop operation with high stability, the company said.
  • Shuttle XH170 - Like the DH110, it has a heatpipe cooling system and smart fan, as well as an "always-on-jumper" for auto-start after power-fail, and can drive up to three displays at the same time. Its USB 3.0 connectors allow for data transfer of up to 5 Gbit/s (625 MB/s), which enables external devices such as USB hard disks to be connected and run at nearly the same speed as their internal siblings, the company said. USB 3.0 is downward compatible so that devices of previous USB generations also can be hooked up.

Shuttle said its new Skylake media players come with a three-year limited warranty on parts and labor.

The company's DS67U features:

  • Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and detachable antennas, designed to make it simple to connect peripherals such as keyboards, mice, smartphones, tablets, etc., which makes it easier for integrators to interact with clients' access points, the company said.
  • The DS67U also incorporates Skylake by Intel, its most up-to-date processor.
  • It also supports M.2 SSDs, which are designed to enable high-performance storage in thin, power-constrained devices.
  • For application flexibility, the player supports two discrete displays simultaneously with 1080p resolution.
  • The DS67U has built-in HDMI and DisplayPort, two USB 3.0 ports, and two built-in RS232/RS422/RS485 serial ports. A VESA mount is included.
  • The Shuttle DS67U fanless design operates 24/7 and consumes less than 20 W of power at full capacity, the company said.

Shuttle Computer Group also said it offers integrators imaging services and customized BIOS, which provides them a way to speed deployments and reduce costs while maintaining consistency.

This new Skylake media players are available with a three-year limited warranty on parts and labor, subject to terms and conditions, the company said.
