Digital World Tokyo: Vending operator Apex announced that it will unveil a new system in June called the MediCafe, an elaborate vending machine built around an LCD screen. Patrons willing to watch a 15- or 30-second ad will be rewarded with a free drink. Ads will be sold by Japanese ad agency WillB, and it is speculated that ad space will be sold on the drink containers themselves.
