NEC intros open modular platform with signageOS

NEC Display Solutions Europe is partnering with signageOS to launch its Open Modular Platform. The platform offers single code-based API access to connect to NEC hardware, according to a press release.

With this tool, customers can integrate any supported hardware or software from NEC. It is built specifically for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module, yet also offers upgrade paths to OPS and SDM for other applications, according to the release.

"We are proud to kick off this partnership that will move NEC's open modular hardware towards greater, seamless availability for partners through signageOS unification technology," Stan Richter, CEO of signageOS, said in the release. "SignageOS's focus on creating industry standard APIs for any digital signage hardware has provided us with the knowledge and experience to help unify a fragmented industry. NEC's adoption of our platform exemplifies their visionary stance on the evolution of digital signage and demonstrates its commitment to industry standardization."
