Digital signage technology provider Mvix announced an upgrade to its signature Xhibit HD signage system, so that it now supports 4K display technology.
The company said it has "aggressively priced" the system at $850 and bundled it with its free cloud-based digital signage management software to offer "above-normal ROI" for a wide range of signage applications.
As momentum around 4K continues to build, most experts agree that the technology is here to stay, according to Mvix. The 4K technology market was valued at $18.1 Billion in 2014 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 21.8 percent from 2015 to 2020, according to a recent Markets and Markets report.
"Four-K is the next evolution in ultra-crisp displays," Mvix Senior Director of Business Relations A.Jay said in the announcement. "With the growing use of 4K displays, we are now offering a 4K signage system to match the new display technology."
According to Mvix, Xhibit 4K is one of the few solutions to achieve true end-to-end 4K performance, bundled with a no-subscription, Web-based content management software. It delivers true 4K video playback of 3840x2160, H.265-encoded content at 60 frames per second via HDMI 2.0, with solid-state architecture for added reliability.
With its minimalist design, ultra-small footprint (measuring 7.5 inches by 7.5 inches by 1 inch) and connectivity options, Xhibit 4K is designed to keep the installation of ultra-HD digital signage simple, the company said.
And Xhibit 4K comes pre-installed with Mvix's free, cloud-based CMS, XhibitSignage, which offers dozens of dynamic media widgets, zone-based screen layouts, a simple and intuitive scheduler and remote network monitoring. Additionally, the Web-application places no limit on online storage space or the number of users and has the sole technical requirement of access to any modern Internet browser to simplify digital signage network management, the company said.
"Currently, the [4K] technology is scattered throughout industries focusing on advertising, promotions or visual aesthetics," Jay said. "We want to enhance the HD-to-4K transition and have decided to keep the price of Xhibit 4K the same."
As a part of this launch, all signature-care clients will be automatically provided Xhibit 4K systems at no cost, upon their tech refresh anniversary date, the company said.
"4K is a budding market that will grow exponentially in the next few years," Jay said. "Xhibit 4K, which includes free software and firmware upgrades, future proofs your digital signage as 4K technology continues to evolve."
