Media-planning firm adds internal digital signage
March 7, 2007
MONTREAL — X2O Media, provider of digital-signage technology and services, announced that its Xpresenter turnkey digital-signage system is powering the internal TV channel launched at Touché!phd's Montreal office. Touché!phd is the Montreal arm of PHD Canada, which is owned by Omnicom Media Group. The customized company info-channel was created to bring the latest news and advertising opportunities to Touché!phd's team of media planners and buyers. The internal display network has a large-screen projector in the main work area, another projector in the Touché Café, and a flat-panel screen in the conference room. All proceeds from advertising go toward future investments in new technology. X2O's Xpresenter application was used to create and manage the info-channel, which includes a live video feed, an RSS data feed feeding a crawling news ticker, real-time weather updates, text updates in a side info-bar, as well as a webcam feed from another office.
Touché!phd staff can upload video clips and PowerPoint files, as well as advertising clips sold on the network. The company also has the ability to post text messages to employees. The customized L-bar graphics, crawling ticker, and other graphics, were created by X2O's Creative Services designers. "The best way to learn about emerging media is to adopt it and use it on a day-to-day basis", said Beat Richert, director at PHDiQ, the digital media division of Touche!phd. Richert spearheaded the Touché!TV project."X2O delivered a professional-looking TV channel that we can easily update, enabling us to keep our focus on the business of media planning."
Richert was inspired to implement an internal info-channel given the revolution that is currently underway in all media and what he calls "the democratization of content." The company has already sold advertising on the internal TV network to Astral Media.
