Logic Supply, a provider of specialized systems for industrial and embedded applications, announced that it is introducing the Nuvo-1300AF high-performance, fanless system featuring the first generation Intel Core i-series processors housed in a ruggedized enclosure with an extended operating temperature range of -25C~70C.
The Nuvo-1300AF system offers extensive I/O, including four power over ethernet ports, or PoE ports, aiming it at surveillance, machine vision and traffic control applications.
Each of the four PoE ports provides 15.4 W of power, enabling networking devices such as IP cameras, telephones or thin client machines to be powered via an ethernet port, reducing the need for extra cabling required to power the peripheral devices. The Nuvo-1300AF is also equipped with a wealth of I/O: DVI, VGA, Gb LAN, four RS-232 COM ports (one is selectable RS-232/422/485), eSATA, eight USB 2.0 and audio. It features two 4-pin wide input 8~26 V DC jacks, with one able to provide dedicated power to the PoE ports. A CompactFlash slot is externally accessible on the front, offering the ability to use solid-state flash as a separate OS boot drive.
Internal storage includes support for two 2.5-inch HDDs, with the option to install up to 1 TB for each drive. Wireless or Bluetooth connectivity is available via a PCIe Mini Card slot and an onboard SIM card slot allows the system to interface with mobile and other wireless communications devices. To dissipate heat, the CPU makes direct contact with the metal heat sink fins on the top of the case instead of using a heatpipe. This method of cooling reduces space and is more efficient, keeping the Nuvo-1300AF at an ideal operating temperature range even while running processor-intensive tasks, the company said.
"With the selection of I/O options and a rugged design, the Nuvo-1300AF can be deployed in applications that require remote management of data and imagery, whether it's for acquisition or communications," said Tomasz Mikolajczyk, field application engineer at Logic Supply, in the announcement. "Because it's completely fanless with a wide operating temperature range, you can 'set it and forget it' knowing service calls will be minimized and up-time maximized. Round that out with an Intel Core i-series processor and PoE ports, and you have a powerhouse for networking, surveillance or machine visions applications."
