Intersection wins 5 year contract with Chicago Transit Authority

December 23, 2019

Intersection, a smart cities media and technology company, has won a five-year contract with an option for a five-year extension to sell static and digital advertising for the Chicago Transit Authority. The company plans to extend its static and digital media products on CTA's rail, street-level and bus-advertising assets, according to a press release.

The CTA and Intersection have been partners since 2007, and through this extension, Intersection will deploy more than 700 new displays as part of this new contract. CTA will not have to pay for any of these displays, as Intersection will take a cut of the advertising revenue, according to the release.

"This is the latest step in our efforts to increase digital advertising revenues, while also creating new customer communication and information opportunities," Dorval R. Carter Jr, president, CTA, said in the release. "We are excited to move ahead as we expand our diverse group of outdoor digital information screens — some of which our customers are accustomed to, like train arrival times — while testing and expanding new features, like interactive touch screens."

Once the new displays are deployed, Intersection will manage more than 1,200 displays throughout the CTA including kiosks, large format video walls and other displays, according to the release.
