Philips Signage Solutions, operated by Envision Peripherals Inc., recently announced a strategic alliance with Premier Wireless Solutions to launch what it is calling "wireless and boundary-less" digital signage, which is it said it believes is "a first in the industry."
Combining PWS’s wireless technology and Philips Signage’s new built-into-the-display SmartBrowser, the new solution "propels digital signage beyond its conventional tethered-to-a-wall electrical socket method of usage," the company said.
Digital signage now can be deployed at virtually any location without wires or depending on Wi-Fi, giving end-users wide latitude of usage and ways to communicate with customers and audiences, according to the announcement. High availability is an added feature thanks to the wireless capability. During power failures or regular maintenance when electrical power is turned off, these Philips Signage Solutions displays continue to operate with their content intact with no adverse effects, the company said.
The company unveiled and demonstrated its wireless digital signage solution at InfoComm 2014 last week in Las Vegas.
