PRN, a STRATACACHE company and provider of in-store shopper engagement solutions, today announced the deployment of 4K technology to the in-warehouse Costco TV Network.
Powered by PRN, the new Costco TV Network is now in all 487 U.S. Costco locations, including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
The Costco TV Network showcases content in both native 4K and 1080p — so Costco members can compare viewing experiences and choose the one they want to take home. Analysts expect a fast 4K adoption, the company said. According to a recent BI Intelligence forecast, by 2024 4K TVs will be in roughly half of all North American households and by 2030 in nearly all North American households, according to the announcement.
"Upgrading the Costco TV Network with 4K capabilities delivers a comprehensive solution at brick-and-mortar retail," PRN CEO Kevin Carbone said in the announcement. "We're excited to support Costco's leadership in the consumer electronics category, enhance this strategic communication platform inside the warehouse, and help Costco members make big purchase decisions. It's a triple win that builds on our longstanding partnership with Costco."
Positioned at the high-traffic entrance of each Costco warehouse, the upgraded Costco TV Network is intended to provide brands an even more powerful opportunity to deliver their message at the beginning of the shopping experience, with featured products just steps away, the announcement said.
