Groupon is hoping the multitouch displays it's deploying in Chicago this week will entice passersby to purchase deals. The Chicago-based deal company partnered with Elevate Digital and Tribune Media Services to provide Chicagoans and tourists with instant, local offers from Groupon Now! on digital signage, according to a company press release.
The touchscreens will be in Pioneer Court, next to the Tribune Towers, June 28 and 29, offering the area's 60,000 daily visitors geo-targeted Groupon Now! deals promoting food, drink and entertainment specials. Groupon employees will also give away $5-promotion codes to be used for purchasing deals through the pop-up displays and assisting customers with the interactive purchasing process.
With the Elevate Digital interactive outdoor displays, Groupon is able to engage both locals and pre-4th of July tourists in a high-traffic area of Chicago through a digital out-of-home, in-person experience, said George Burciaga, CEO of Elevate Digital
"Our technology is allowing companies to break out of traditional marketing and advertising approaches and engage people in a different space while continuing to generate and build revenue," he said.
