Expedia stores buy a ticket for digital signage

March 26, 2013

Expedia CruiseShipCenters announced today that the chain is partnering with ScreenScape Networks, a provider of community-based digital signage solutions, to power intelligent displays inside the company's retail locations across North America.

"We have strong relationships with the world's leading travel suppliers," said John Mast, vice president of marketing for Expedia CruiseShipCenters. "Place-based media offers our partners a new and richly visual way to communicate with retail customers across our entire network while improving the consistency of our brand."

ScreenScape is a software platform that connects businesses and helps them to engage audiences inside real-world locations using Internet-enabled digital displays. ScreenScape's community-based approach will allow Expedia CruiseShipCenters to use a ScreenScape Group to form its own place-based media network consisting of its own retail locations or any other business that is a member of the ScreenScape Community.

"As equipment costs decline, and as digital content becomes more readily available, it is only natural that we would want to apply this technology to show our customers their dream vacation," Mast said. "Place-based media is coming of age and ScreenScape is helping to make this technology easier to deploy and easier to manage."

Expedia CruiseShipCenters has a network of more than 170 franchise locations and is part of Expedia Inc., the online travel company.
