The University of Winchester's catering department, which takes pride in delivering a healthy sustainable lifestyle for students, has resolved its issue of displaying crucial allergy information by installing an interactive digital signage Allergy Information board with added benefits, according to an announcement from Eclipse Digital Media.

"The digital signage has been successful in terms of being able to provide services beyond our initial goals," said Rob Ferrin, the head of media, University of Winchester, Catering Department. "The ability to use the digital signage as a marketing tool far exceeds how we had initially hoped to use the equipment and software."

Eclipse Digital Media, a U.K.-based digital signage company provided and installed the digital signage solution, comprising a 32-inch ELO Touch Display with integrated PC paired with embed signage digital signage software license and the embed signage Allergy Information Board plugin.

The catering department was looking at different ways to deliver allergy information to their students and staff for their food outlets. It also was seeking a contemporary way to engage with its consumers, while providing critical information about allergens, as required by EU law.

"The primary objective for us was to increase the availability of crucial information that staff and students of the university require," Ferrin said. "This information includes vital detail regarding the allergen information of each of dishes on our daily rotating menu."
Additionally, the solution provided by Eclipse Digital Media gives the University a scalable marketing tool to run messaging and promotions alongside the allergy information. The University now has the opportunity to develop their content by adding or removing pages of interactive content as and when needed, while scheduling content to change at important times.
