Digital signage for meetings and events shines at solar power conference

Meeting and events services provider intros new digital signage solution for conference session displays at Solar Power International annual conference.

Meeting and events services provider CadmiumCD introduced its new digital signage solution for conference session displays at the recent Solar Power International annual conference, according to an announcement from the company.

Digital session displays are expected to become the new standard at conferences, and paper signage will soon be phased out in favor of digital solutions, the company said. At the SPI conference last month, data that presenters and event organizers uploaded to the Conference Harvester, CadmiumCD's event management software, was pushed directly to digital signage placed outside of presentation rooms.

"With other digital displays, meeting planners must use a different software than they used to actually manage their event," CadmiumCD CEO Michelle Wyatt said in the announcement. "But for the past decade we've been doing everything possible to reduce the number of steps needed to change and publish data relevant to conference attendees."

Presentation details were instead displayed on 40-inch display screens placed outside each room at the conference.

"Attendees enjoyed how easy it was to navigate the conference and access educational materials," SPI Director of Education Aimee Gabel said in the announcement. "And I was relieved that what was displayed on the digital signage changed automatically to reflect current and upcoming sessions."

CadmiumCD's Digital Signage is time-sensitive and uses an internal clock to determine which session details should be displayed on each screen. The screens themselves are given identification numbers so that they can "talk" back to the Conference Harvester and know exactly what data will be displayed, even if organizers make last minute changes, the company said.
