Digital billboards aiding in manhunt for 'I-55 Bandit'

September 11, 2013

The FBI is using digital billboards as the Bureau steps up its search for a serial bank robber suspected of 10 robberies in five states, according to The (Alton, Ill.) Telegraph.

The FBI is calling the robber the "I-55 Bandit" since some of the crimes he's suspected of, including two additional attempted bank robberies, have occurred near Interstate 55.

Robberies have occurred in Missouri, Illinois, Maryland, West Virginia and Tennessee, and the FBI recently announced it now is using digital billboards in the search, according to the paper. The spots on the billboards will be run at no cost as a public service, according to the article.
