Clear Channel Airports, a brand division of Clear Channel Outdoor and a subsidiary of iHeartMedia Inc., today announced a five-year partnership extension with Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and operated by MBJ Airports Limited.
The agreement began Dec. 1 and provides substantial capital improvements to enhance the airport's digital media programs and displays, adding important passenger conveniences and amenities while providing additional consumer touchpoints for advertisers, CCA said in the announcement.
"Clear Channel Airports was selected after a very competitive RFP process and we are pleased to continue our relationship with a valued partner whose state-of-the-art advertising platforms will enhance the experience for the millions of passengers who pass through our gateway to Jamaica," said Sitara English-Byfield, chief commercial officer, MBJ Airports Ltd. "Our new agreement will provide us with vibrant, new digital displays that will inform and entertain travelers and help them better navigate our airport."
According to the announcement, MBJ currently sees almost 4 million passengers per year — more than 71 percent of all visitors to Jamaica — and serves 19 airlines with 38 direct flights as well as 16 charter operations to an additional 22 destinations. MBJ is a destination airport, serving the leisure market with an average post-security dwell time of 90 minutes which can be as much as three hours. CCA has operated the MBJ advertising concession since 2005 and has been operating in the Caribbean since 1998 where it now partners with 30 regional airports.
The new additions to MBJ airport's advertising program will include:
