BrightSign media players pump iron at the gym

February 24, 2017

BrightSign has integrated its media players with the FunXtion Experience Station, a virtual coaching system in more than 150 gyms in seven countries. The station consists of a 55-inch screen that offers challengers, timers, exercise instructions and more, according to a press release.

BrightSign integrated its XT1142 4K players into the system. With this player, customers can log in to the stations with RFID wristbands, according to Hans de Boer, account director of Notice Branded Media. The customer can select a variety of videos for training purposes. The original FunXtion Experience Station ran on BrightSign 4K1042 players, but the new one was integrated with the XT1143 to deliver HTML5 assets, according to the release.

"On the original players, we used 64GB SD cards, and made use of H.265 compression to reduce the file size by about 50 percent. The new player, however, features an M2 peripheral port, allowing us to install a SATA SSD hard disk drive," Harry Wiertz, innovation director at Notice, said. "We use complex and memory intensive HTML5 content such as swipe/pinch/zoom interactive, streaming social media and multiple modular HTML5 assets layered with live TV and video to create an engaging experience for the user."
