Is 8K on the horizon for the digital signage and broadcasting industry? How will it work with the Internet of Things and the broadcasting market? A fire-side chat style webinar hosted on Digital Signage Today and sponsored by Intel Corp. addressed these questions.
The webinar, which was entitled "Seeing is believing: Everything you need to know about 8K in live broadcasting and professional displays" was moderated by Bradley Cooper, editor of ATM Marketplace, a sister site of Digital Signage Today and featured panelists Ben Cope, principal engineer at Intel, Peter Heins, senior product manager of large format displays at Sharp NEC Display Solutions Europe GmbH, Chris Chinnock, executive director of the 8K Association and Ravindra Velhal, global content technology strategist and 8K lead at Intel.
During the fire-side chat, the panelists addressed a number of areas related to 8K. For example, Chinnock brought up multiple use cases for 8K including large digital canvases, remote inspections, houses of worship, gaming, media, medical imaging and more. Other discussions included:
Heins covered how to enable 8K ecosystems.
Cope covered how IoT products such as Intel's Smart Display Module can interact with 8K displays.
Velhal covered how 8K content was broadcasted live from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
During this webinar, the panelists also got key insights from the audience with poll questions such as: if manufacturer) or products you consume (if ISV/end user)
