DOOH golf game tees off for hole in one

Digital signage kiosk brings hole-in-one contests to any course, any day.

A new touschscreen-based digital out-of-home golf game is teeing off at golf courses around the country.

The new game from Florida-based JustOne Golf is a touchscreen digital signage kiosk placed on course at a par 3 hole that allows golfers to register a $5 wager that could pay off in a $100,000 win if they sink a hole in one.

Last month, JustOne Golf rolled out its Teeosk kiosk at the Mojave Resort Golf Club in Laughlin, Nev., and the Kingwood Golf Resort in Clayton, Ga., bringing the hole-in-one contest that is traditionally held during charity golf tournaments to the masses.

The outdoor kiosk and display are designed to unobtrusively blend into the environment and withstand the extremes of golf course weather conditions. Players register for the hole-in-one challenge via the kiosk, wagering a minimum of $5, according to a company press release. High-definition video cameras installed on the course capture the golfer's swing and the result of the shot, providing both proof of the ace and a record of the golfer's achievement. The golfer then reports their victory swing and receives their payout.

JustOne Golf's CEO Steven Rattner said in the announcement that the system has the potential to boost revenue for golf courses, with an increase in rounds being played, repeat business, word-of-mouth referrals and viral social media exposure.

"The JustOne system puts more excitement in every round and meets a real need for today's golf generation," Rattner said.

According to JustOne's website, "[n]ot only does every player win by sharing in the excitement and camaraderie created by the game but no matter where they hit their shot, each play includes a free drink served at your clubhouse at the end of the round thus increasing F & B revenue for you and increasing enjoyment for the players as they recap the best and worst of their round!"

The Mojave Resort Golf Club in nevada already is receiving "great player feedback about the JustOne System" it recently deployed, according to Randy Mudge, the PGA general manager at the club.

"The System has definitely elevated the golf experience at our course and will greatly differentiate our location from other golf facilities in this highly competitive marketplace where unique value propositions can be hard to come by," he said in a JustOne press release. "Of course, in addition to ensuring our players have the most enjoyable time possible while at our club, the related revenue growth potential, the possibility of driving play during non-peak times with special hole-in-one-related promotions, and the ability to increase and easily manage our outings business and related hole-in-one prizes were also major factors in our decision to install the JustOne System."

JustOne Golf said it is scheduled to deploy its DOOH kiosks at Dogwood Golf Club in Austell, Ga.; Mays Landing Golf & Country Club in Mays Landing, N.J.; Back Creek Golf Club in Middletown, Del.; and Foxchase Golf Club in Stevens, Pa.; among others.
