Digital signage is fast becoming an essential tool for an efficient communication strategy in corporate and campus environments. Organizations have information that needs to reach multiple audiences, some common to all and some specific to one or more groups. Digital signage enables effortless dissemination of information through a standardized technology that can be leveraged company- and campus-wide.
Digital Signage Today and digital signage software provider Navori SA recently hosted a webinar, "How to Optimize your Strategy for Corporate and Campus Communication," that looked at using digital signage across corporate and higher education campuses, developing the case for using digital signage as a communication tool. The speakers also discussed how selecting the right technology can enable an organization to efficiently communicate information from multiple contributors and best practices for maximizing audience engagement.
The webinar presenters, Navori Managing Director Ronni Guggenheim and Navori Business Development Director Jeffrey Weitzman, went step by step, first looking at the efficacy of digital signage for campus-wide communications, then presenting several case study examples, and finishing with a wrap up of the long-term value and ROI of digital signage. They also looked at using digital signage as a collaborative tool and answered questions in a brief Q-and-A session toward the end of the webinar. Guggenheim started out by looking at the efficacy of digital signage for corporate and higher-ed campus communications. Digital signage, he said, helps overcome the shortcoming inherent in printed materials, making sure information is disseminated effectively and properly. The technology also captures attention from larder audiences, simplifies the effective and rapid dispersal of information over large areas and unifies a cross-campus and cross-platform communication strategy – not to mention saving money on printing, labor and materials costs.

The YMCA of Greater New York, for example, recently deployed a digital signage network across 26 New York City-area locations, including 22 YMCA branches to improve its communications. The network provides information across the locations that can be generalized or specific to each location, and staff and members alike now rely on the screens for focused, up-to-date information, according to the presenters.

The webinar then looked at digital signage as a collaborative tool, one that's management can evolve beyond the company's IT team with contributors spanning multiple departments, and then examined driving audience engagement. After all, they said, efficiency and collaboration only really matter if the audience engages with and takes in the information provided by the digital signage content.

The speakers finished up by looking at one of the key make or break points for digital signage, the bottom line. Digital signage can provide long-term value and a relatively speedy ROI, they said. Investing in a dynamic digital signage system is cost-efficient, with long-term benefits, they said, and an automatically updating system can offer a typical ROI within one year thanks to increased efficiencies and cost reductions.
