After Boot Country/Work Country, a western boots and apparel retailer's flagship store in Sharonville, Ohio installed a digital message center from Watchfire Signs, owner Bill Van Fleet began considering one for the Burlington, Kentucky location as well. He originally installed a monochrome sign at the Sharonville store at the suggestion of city officials who encouraged all businesses in the commercial district to get electronic signs, according to a company press release.
"The Sharonville sign was really successful and was a good investment, so we felt that a digital sign at the Burlington store would deliver great visibility given its highway location," Rachel Van Fleet, executive vice president at Boot Country/Work Country, said in the release.
The retailer worked with Klusty Sign Associates of Cincinnati to design and install a pole sign with a large, full-color digital display manufactured by Watchfire Signs. The double-sided display with the retailer's signature red boot atop can be seen by motorists traveling in either direction.
"Despite the Burlington location opening in 2006, we have customers stop in the store after seeing the sign and say they never knew the store was there," Van Fleet said.
She estimates that sales are up about 40% at that location since the sign was installed.
Boot Country/Work Country has Watchfire displays at every location. Klusty Sign Associates trains store managers on how to program the signs using Watchfire's content management software. Managers are responsible for programming the signs at their location with a mix of messages, including product advertisements and information about sales, specials and holidays.
Boot Country/Work Country's first location plans to switch its monochrome sign to a full-color Watchfire display, according to the release.
