ViewSonic intros internal media player-equipped digital signage displays

ViewSonic Corp., a global provider of visual solution products, is now shipping its new CDE5500-L and CDE6500-L commercial-grade digital signage displays featuring a built-in media player, the company announced today.

The internal media player simplifies content loading, scheduling and management by enabling USB playback of multimedia files, the company said, and the displays feature energy-efficient full-HD 1080p LED panels.

“By eliminating the need for an external PC or media player, our new CDE5500-L and CDE6500-L not only deliver an easy-to-use, all-in-one digital signage solution, but do so at a price point not seen before for this level of quality and operational durability,” said Gene Ornstead, director of product marketing at ViewSonic Corp., in the announcement. “With commercial customers looking for easy-to-setup, cost-effective large format displays, these new CDE commercial displays  deliver amazing performance with greater reliability than consumer TVs.”

The enhanced functionality of the CDE5500-L and CDE6500-L are further increased by versatile connectivity with multidigital inputs for installation and control of a variety of devices, the company said. Support for RS232 with IR pass-through and HDMI CEC pass-through provide for management and control of multiple-display installations that employ HD set-top boxes and media players.

The new displays also feature a slim, symmetrical bezel design allowing for custom installation in portrait or landscape orientation, and each model is equipped with VESA-compatible wall mounts for further flexibility in commercial environments as well as dual integrated speakers for enhanced multimedia messaging performance.

The CDE5500-L is available now at an MSRP of $1,999 (USD), and the CDE6500-L is available at an MSRP of $3,199 (USD).
